Contentment
by James A Garrison

Soft cooling  breezes wafting over lush, undulant field,
Sunshine glistening off of the wounds of trees that sap has sealed,
Insects buzzing quietly in the distant background,
While the wind curls through, healing every stress to be found.

A dog yelps and races past, hard on the trail of some rabbit or cat,
In the distance boys squabble and cheer as one goes to bat,
A man two rows down sweating as he pushes a mower,
Leaning back and enjoying the shade, a cigar and book in my hands
willing the evening to go slower.

Holidays spent with loved ones,
Opening presents, sharing barbeques,
Talking of days gone by, spreading condiments over seedy buns,
Looking out and watching flakes fall while we sit and muse.

Sitting in my room, reading, writing, or listening to tunes play,
Closing my eyes and letting the world sink in,
These are a few of the things I like to do on a contented day,
So find your own, for they are what make the world spin.
I know I haven't posted in a lohohohohoooong time, but I've been busy I swear lol. For anyone still paying attention I have written a small collection of poems about human emotions. Hope you enjoy.

Apart from the baseball references this is very accurate description of the last few sunny days in my village. :D
